Despacito

One of my recent project at work was to record and mix a parody of the hit song Despacito.

Although the song is not that complicated, the amount of production put in the original is pretty intense. The main challenge to me here was to obtain a sound as close as possible to the track, even thought this is just a parody.

We worked with a backing track, and recorded all vocals. The vocal tuner Melodyne was a huge help to get everybody perfectly on pitch, because it’s a requirement in that style of music. It also helped me a lot with shaping and creating backing vocals tracks: the actors are actors and not singers, although they did a great job, it’s not always easy to sing double or third backing vocals.
